Text to GIF Generator
Turn any text into an animated GIF — typewriter, fade-in, or slide-in animation modes, with your choice of handwriting font, size, color, and background. No sign-up, no watermark.
Type Text, Pick an Animation, Download a GIF
A text-to-GIF generator that's not just handwriting. Type any short line and pick one of three animation modes — typewriter (characters type in one at a time), fade-in (letters fade in sequentially), or slide-in (letters slide up into place) — to produce a clean animated GIF ready for messaging, social posts, presentations, and landing pages.
Every GIF renders at 2x device pixel ratio, loops cleanly, and exports without a watermark or sign-up. If you want a stroke-by-stroke handwriting animation instead, use the homepage — that tool traces each letter like a real pen. This tool is for the other three animation families.
Three Animation Modes
Typewriter
Characters appear one at a time with a sharp, stepped rhythm — perfect for a "coding" aesthetic, punchy quotes, and tutorial intros.
Fade-in
Each letter fades in sequentially with an eased curve. Soft, elegant, and hard to misuse. Works great for headlines and section intros.
Slide-in
Letters slide up from below while fading in. Snappier than fade-in, ideal for short impact lines in social reels and ads.
What People Use Text GIFs For
Short-form video titles
Drop animated text GIFs into Reels, TikToks, and Shorts for punchy title cards without opening an animation suite.
Slack and Discord messages
Grab attention in channels with animated text — it loops, so it keeps catching eyes in busy feeds.
Landing-page hero sections
Replace a static headline with a looping typewriter or fade-in GIF to add motion without writing a line of JS.
Slides and explainer videos
Paste a typewriter GIF into Keynote, PowerPoint, or Google Slides to animate key phrases without slide transitions.
Email signatures and sign-offs
A small animated tagline GIF in an email signature stands out without being obnoxious.
Meme text and reaction loops
Typewriter effect on a short line makes a quick reaction GIF that feels original, not just yet another Giphy pull.
Text to GIF — FAQ
How is this different from the Handwriting GIF generator on the home page?+
The home page renders text stroke-by-stroke like a real pen — that's the "handwriting animation" effect. This tool produces three other animation styles (typewriter, fade-in, slide-in) that work with any handwriting font but don't trace the letter paths. Use the home page for true handwriting animation; use this page for typewriter, fade, or slide motion.
How long can my text be?+
Up to 60 characters — roughly one line. Longer text wraps and the animation still plays, but very long lines produce larger GIFs. For multi-line or paragraph-level output, use the Handwritten Notes tool instead.
Can I change how long the animation takes?+
Yes. The Duration slider (1 – 6 seconds) controls the total animation length. The final frame holds for an extra ~1 second so viewers can read it before the loop restarts.
What size and quality is the exported GIF?+
GIFs export at 2x device pixel ratio, typically 15 – 50 KB depending on text length and animation mode. Suitable for social media, messaging apps, presentations, and the web.
Will my text be sent to a server?+
No. Rendering and GIF encoding run entirely in your browser. Your text never reaches our servers.
Is there a watermark?+
No watermark. The GIFs you download are clean and yours to use commercially or personally.
